Expecting Excellence but Accepting Mediocrity?

How crazy does this question sound to you? Are you expecting excellence but accepting mediocrity? Here is the truth... over 95% of us already accept mediocrity in our every day lives as the norm, and the other 5% that are supposed to be heads and shoulders above - well...... do the math.... how many do you actually see achieving huge things, making every dream they have happen? 1% maybe 2%?

Accepting mediocre results is a killer! A killer of our dreams, goals and aspirations. Once we accept the "best we can do" we have already given up and mediocrity sets in.... Being mediocre is not so bad is it? Remaining in the status quo is comfortable isn't it? Being average is OK isn't it?

Now that you say "hell no!" Let's get down to business!

The first thing we need to do is decide we are going after excellence and are not stopping until we achieve it. What does that look like - each of us has a different concept of what excellence looks like in our lives. We must draw out the picture, decide on the level of excellence you are striving for.

Create your starting point. Where are you right now, where are you going, what does it look like in detail when you get there? Create a plan of action. The operative word is ACTION! It takes action to make a plan happen.

Create benchmarks and check in points. Along the journey check in and measure your results against your benchmarks - if you are below - decipher why, fix and recalculate, if you are above, don't just sit there relaxing get going and aim higher!

Once you hit the finish line - rest, rejuvenate, celebrate and get going again! Each time it becomes easier to expect the excellence and to achieve it! It will become a habit, one that you will enjoy for a lifetime.
