Lessons in Detail for a BRIGHTER BEGINNING!

Lets end 2008 on a positive note, for the next few days lets take a look back at all the great things that happened in our personal and professional lives in 08.

Some might say, what are you talking about - this year was horrible for business, my personal life fell apart or worse I have experienced a great loss.

However, I would like to offer a better way to look at any negative experiences you may have had in the past year.

First thing you need to do is to have an open mind and over the next few days I am going to help you do that... to shed all those hurtful feelings and really open your mind to possibilities. We are going to let go of all the preconcieved ideas, judgements and biggest of all RESENTMENTS... How do I do that, I hear you saying...

What works for me everytime is to take a blank piece of paper, ok maybe 10 pieces of paper or my journal and start writing.... dump all the junk onto the paper... let the pen flow.... DO NOT JUDGE WHAT YOU WRITE.... just write.... let it flow.

The trick is to let it flow onto the paper in detail... as it happened, start with January and work your way through to December. Remember the events that shaped your attitudes, that left a painful smear on your heart, that pulled you one way when you wanted to go another, the plans you made that just didnt come out as expected, the people that hurt you this year, the ones that left you, the experiences that you just cant let go of, all of it!

When you are done, which may take you a few days, be with it.... read it... cry and scream if you need to, but really live those experiences again. Once you have experienced all those feelings again, you are now ready to give them up.... understanding you no longer need them... you are about to enter into a brand new year, a new beginning and that old baggage you no longer need (this is not the same thing as remembering the lessons... we will get to that part of it..)

Once you have done this exercise - at the end of the page whether it is on blank paper or in your journal - write the words:

Thank you for the lessons!

This is Step one in this journey and further posts will include your steps beyond to help you propel yourself into your new year, a new beginning with a fuller, happier and more positive you at the helm.
